Life in the outbound team at Arbor
I know what you’re thinking, “outbound is about volume, sky high KPI’s and if you don’t hit them it's doomsday for all” and it’s what I first thought too - EVERY time I saw an advert for a Business Development Executive on a careers site.
Outbound is renowned for it but not at Arbor.
My life at Arbor is so varied and allows me to have a say in everything I do, your ideas are listened to, and your skills are put so much more to use than just cold calling.
I guess you could say my role here is more of a research-based, strategic approach and my day to day life changes depending on where we are in the school year. Sometimes we’re planning, creating and executing account-based marketing campaigns, small territory email campaigns, email prospecting, using direct mail, LinkedIn or the phone in preplanned blended outreach. The best thing about Arbor is that no day is the same and we’re always looking to innovate how we reach out to schools.
Although Arbor is the fastest growing MIS company, I’ll usually start by looking at areas where we may have some blank spaces on the map because as an outbound team we have the luxury of being really strategic in where we work (the business is 80% inbound). From there we plan, write, and execute campaigns that usually involve around 10 different touch points over many weeks, telling a story that’s relevant and to the right people. I never feel like I’m wasting my time.
My role is all about flexibility, being a detective in your research, and being able to capture a school’s attention with your content - we really try to put ourselves in the shoes of our prospects.
