About the role (To start June 2020)

Our People team is at the heart of our business, and in this role you will be responsible for line managing our HR & Office Manager, Senior People & Talent manager and Talent Acquisition Manager, based in 3 different offices. 

We are looking for a driven and experienced Head of People to help us grow and scale the business whilst implementing positive change in a cost-effective manner. The remit and focus of the role is to focus on staff retention, employee NPS and HR best practice. It’s a broad and exciting role, so we’re looking for someone up for a challenge - if you’re an enthusiastic leader and passionate to make a difference, this is the role for you!

Core responsibilities

  • Being accountable for providing pragmatic, commercial and solution-oriented HR advice and support to the People Team to help achieve the departmental goals and strategy
  • Being part of the Senior Leadership Team, attending weekly management meetings and reporting back monthly on the role dimensions
  • Managing and being accountable for the People Team, proactively developing their skills to enable the growth of knowledge of best practice in Arbor in line with our culture and values
  • Proactively coming up with improvements to enable sustainable and scalable growth of the business
  • Being an advocate and cultural ambassador of the company, ensuring that we drive forward Arbor’s growth whilst making it an awesome place to work
  • Providing high quality HR support, guidance, training, and coaching for the team as and when needed
  • Driving a positive and inspirational working environment by listening to what people need/want and suggesting ideas for improvement. 
  • Coaching and supporting line managers with employee relations, such as managing onboarding and offboarding, probationary periods, absence management, and any conduct and capability issues
  • Instilling a learning and coaching culture by working with the Senior People & Talent Manager, collating feedback from the the team and helping to organise and deliver training events
  • Being accountable for all recruitment and other people-related activities and processes across the business 
  • Occasional travel to the Serbian and Leeds offices to work with the development of the People Team and practices there, making sure that the business is aligned and collaboration is encouraged 
  • Undertaking ad hoc project work as required by the CEO

About you

  • Proven track record of implementing positive change and improving working practices in a growing business
  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential
  • Proactive, positive, and driven - you are passionate about People and want to make a difference!
  • Excellent working knowledge of UK Employment Law and HR best practice
  • Deep experience of supporting, coaching and advising Managers on HR and recruitment matters 
  • Experienced line manager, with the ability to motivate and drive forward a growing and developing team
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task various projects and deadlines
  • Autonomous, proactive and driven, with an excellent work ethic
  • Commercially focused and able to come up with cost-effective solutions for the business
  • Willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in!
