About the role

Our Marketing team is at the heart of this mission, building a strong school-focused brand, attracting new schools to Arbor and helping to keep them happy and engaged.

We are looking for our first Marketing & Brand Designer, responsible for Arbor brand guardianship and the design and production of Arbor branded marketing materials. The scope of work in this role is both huge and exciting; the successful candidate will find themselves owning our Brand & Visual Identity, and creating concepts and design for all of our core channels including, print, direct mail, email, social, experiential, merchandising and other branded activities. We’re looking for a true all-rounder who thrives on getting stuck in across the business. 

Reporting into the Head of Marketing, you will work closely with the broader Marketing Team to oversee and directly produce a high output of quality marketing collateral, testing and learning to ensure our creative delights schools and directly contributes to the continued growth and success of Arbor. You will also work closely with key internal brand stakeholders including our Product, Customer and People teams to ensure a consistent and delightful experience across the whole Arbor world. 

In your first 6 months you will…

  • Review and update our visual identity in line with our new Brand Strategy
  • Project manage the rollout of our new visual identity, training others on it as necessary
  • Create a centralised marketing asset library
  • Become an instrumental part of our Brand Guild, helping this cross-functional team to embed our new brand across our world
  • Work on three major events (BETT 2020, ArborFest & Academies Show London), looking at our visual identity across event production, digital assets & print assets
  • Partner with Product Marketing to drive forwards a host of new pieces of marketing collateral such as Sales Guides and Battlecards

Core responsibilities


  • Own our Brand Guidelines, updating as necessary and ensuring they are used consistently across the business
  • Review and update our Visual Identity, ensuring it coheres with our overall Brand Strategy
  • Create and maintain centralised marketing asset library
  • Support other key brand stakeholders across product, engineering and HR as a centralised brand marketing resource to ensure a consistent and delightful experience for our customers

In-House Design

  • Work closely with other Marketing Team members, with a heavy focus around testing and learning to maximise marketing effectiveness
  • Project management and production of all in-house marketing design, ensuring all work is produced on time, to budget and to the highest standard. Examples of assets you’ll look after include:
    • Our company website
    • Product videos
    • Brochures, battlecards & leaflets
    • Event material
    • Campaign material (for example: books, one pagers)
    • Social media banners and images
    • Internal templates e.g. on Google Drive
    • Work with agencies to develop Arbor-branded physical products

Project Management

  • Work closely with our Head of Marketing and other team members on our visual identity at events, helping to manage external agencies around stand production

UI Design

  • Help out on ad hoc projects with Product Managers to mock up product UI

About you

Please submit your portfolio along with your application. Beyond that, we’d love to see:

  • 3-4 years experience as a Marketing Designer
  • Excitement about stepping up into the next level of responsibility in your career
  • Ideas-driven, with a passion for brands and multi-channel marketing
  • Expertise in both print and digital design
  • Expertise with image editing software (e.g. Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator)
  • Expertise in design software (e.g. InDesign and Sketch)
  • Confident in video production and motion design techniques for both brand and product/service marketing
  • Comfortable creating/editing/updating templates in Google Drive
  • The ability to grasp commercial requirements and consider practical solutions that are on brand and consumer centric
  • Confidence to present and explain ideas to internal clients and colleagues
  • Excellent project and time management skills - work on several projects at a time
  • Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to maximise impact of brand assets to build brand equity
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced scale-up on a mission to transform the way schools work!
